Update By The Weeks:
Another good week of progress on the house. The roof is almost done and the plumbing and the electrical are almost done. We just have to do another couple of hours of work and then the final hook-ins on the wiring and pluming! Next step is inspection and then onto the insulation. Alas, our person helping us with the hook ins is out of town for a few days and so it will be a couple of days before we can do that. But we do have a few things we can work on to finish the roof and the window installs. As you can see we aren't quite going to be done for when they return from their honeymoon, but they do have a place to stay for a couple of weeks so that is nice. The wedding is less than one week away and we are pretty much ready, just a few things to do this week. (Check out their website for information if there is inclement weather and to see the bridal pictures that are coming soon - https://www.theknot.com/us/ashly-richins-and-jesse-barraclough-aug-2019 ) Also, in just over a week I go back to my start of school with our back to school meetings. Then a week after that is the first day of school. Then a week after that is Brooklyn's mission farewell at noon, with food and visiting after until 4:00 pm. This week was packed with stuff! The biggest thing was Girl's Camp. Eric, Ashly, and I were all up at Girl's Camp. It was so much fun being at Beaver High Adventure Camp with 20 girls and 9 adults. We did the COPE course including the low course activities, rafted down the river where we actually got some class 3 rapids, and we did a lot of other activities. It was a packed 3 days.
Then we came down the mountain on Saturday morning. Unfortunately we had to put everything up and dry it out because it rained Saturday morning before we woke up and kept misting as we were packing up! Because of this, I just barely got done so that I could go with Ashly and Jesse to take their bridal pictures and be a part the reveal. (Stay tuned for their posts! I won't give away anything else.) Thanks to my dad, Carsyn, Ashly, and Jesse 1/2 of our roof got the sheet metal put on it while we were gone!! Thanks for keeping the project going. Watch for an update picture in a couple of days after we get the 2nd 1/2 done! We finished out the final framing tasks on the house this week and then started with the electrical. The hardest and longest part was digging the trench for the line to connect into the main house. Friday we thought we were just finishing out the easy part and that the trench would be done in about an hour. However, with only a few feet to go, we hit what at first we though was a rock, then perhaps a large tree trunk, and discovered it was a HUGE dump of cement from the original house build! 3 hours LATER we had chiseled out enough of it to put our pipe where it needed to be! Then started placing the outlets, etc. on Saturday evening!
We had the privilege of going to the temple with Brooklyn Saturday. What a special time to be there with Ashly, Brooklyn, and Jesse. |
