This week has been another great week for Brooklyn. She is still loving the CCM and all of the people she has gotten to meet. That's pretty much what she talks about when we get to google hangout. Thursday they started preparations so that they are ready to fly out on Monday. She leaves for Argentina a noon on Monday. I remember her saying there were a couple of layovers before they hit Buenos Aires. (1 for sure was in Panama.) Once they arrive in Buenos Aires then they book a flight to Salta. Carsyn ran another race this week. It was the Swiss Days race and he came in 7th overall in the Men's division, 6th in his age bracket. There were 301 participants in the Men's division. He is pretty much recovered from the injury and is back to running again. Oh and he also had his first fender bender - but luckily it was super minor and easily fixed. The casita part is almost done with taping and texturing. We are hoping that by the end of the week that part can be done so that we can paint while Eric works on taping the seams in the garage. Wish us luck! That will be a great listen to conference activity - don't you think?! Jesse was part of a great concert in the park. I was sad I had to miss it, but Eric and his dad got to go with Ashly.

This week was a little rough for cross country because Carsyn spent most of the week training on bikes because of a foot injury. Apparently you are supposed to get new shoes every 400 miles and he has put closer to 600 miles on this pair of trainers! Anyway the race this week he more maintained what he has been getting instead of being able to drop more time off.
We got 90% of the taping done in the Casita and 50% of the taping done in the garage. Hope to finish that this week as well as the texturing. Brooklyn got to go to the temple again this week. She loves her District and is loving missionary life. She told a fun story of a misplaced camera, and the steps that the CME took to locate the camera, using the surveillance videos. Enjoy the pics! Another Meet - this week Carsyn went to a big meet up North. He learned some things strategically about running in a big meet. He did well, not what he was shooting for, but he learned some good things. Sheetrock! We got the lion's share of the sheetrock done. We will work on the cement board and green board in the next couple of days and then there will be a bit of fill ins for normal sheetrock. The plan is to tape and texture end of this week. Fingers crossed! Brooklyn update - She still loves her mission, most everyone in her District has gotten sick in some form or another so that's fun. 2 with parasites. We think we have successfully navigated getting some items to her. We will find out on Wednesday. Ashly and Jesse got new callings. Ashly is assistant primary chorister and Jesse is the pianist. We have a rockin team! So much fun to be had. Ashly also got hired on to be one of the House Managers at Tuacahn! I got to train her last night. She will be awesome! 1st the house. No pictures today of the house because it really isn't too impressive on a picture, but we did finish all of the insulation. I should have gotten a picture of my dad and Eric yesterday, especially Eric because he was kind of a snowman when he came down from the attic! Hopefully the inspector can come tomorrow and we can finish the sheetrock on the walls. Then onto taping and texturing! One step closer! 2nd the meets. Carsyn had two meets this week: Meet #1 it was 103 degrees with no real shade, luckily most of it was on the grass! He did PR and he came in 15th. His team won the meet so they were happy with that. Meet #2 was up in Murray. He PR'd again which was great considering he was running at a higher altitude, but he didn't quite meet his personal goal, so he was happy almost. 3rd the missionary: Brooklyn is doing great still. Sleeping better now that she can tune out some of the noise. She is used to her very quiet and very dark basement room. Luckily for the past 6 months she has been where there have been lights, sirens, etc during the night so it's not such a shock to her sleeping self. She did clarify that she does hear gunshots often during the day so that's also new to her. She loves her District, she loves her companion. In her words "The second week was so much better than the first! As always, lots of classes, "study time" and hanging out with my district, comp, and roommates." From her e-mail: We had Carlos Godoy and L. Whitney Clayton from the Seventy come and speak to us on Saturday. They were both so great! The talked a lot about how we never know how many people our missionary work will actually affect. "God called you. He didn't call someone who would never be afraid, he called you." - Hermana Coachwell Also, I think we finally got most of the things that were not quite right on the way to her. Fingers crossed!! Yes! we got to talk to Brooklyn twice already! She is doing great. Apparently sleep isn't the best with dogs, sirens, and roosters, but she does have ear plugs and she said they are figuring it out. She said there are some tough parts, but she loves all of the people in her District. She and her companion are the only sisters. She did say she does not like to work out in the Sister's only gym because the equipment isn't as good as the stuff in the Sister's and Elder's combined gym. She does LOVE wearing pants most of the time. Apparently they only wear skirts in her mission on Sundays and District meetings and baptisms! She will be in Argentina for Conference weekend!
Now to the house. We have the wall insulation up and the sheetrock on the ceiling as a prep for the ceiling insulation! It's moving along! The blow in insulation won't get here until Friday at the earliest so unless we can get permission to do the sheetrock on the walls and get 1/2 of the insulation passed off, we won't have too much to do until the ceiling insulation arrives. Fingers crossed! |
